Dana Michelle DeCosta, age 38 of Dublin who suffered in this life with brain cancer, walked into Heaven, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 led by the hand of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now cancer free.

Michelle, an avid Virginia Tech fan, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and over the past few years, participating in the Relay for Life events. There to greet her are grandfathers, Frederick (Fred) Moye and William (Bill) DeCosta.

Left to cherish her memory are her children , Christopher of Wedgefield, S.C.,Dana and Ashley of Pulaski, step-daughters, Karson and Jenson of Yakinville, N.C., and the love of her life, her fiancée', Russell McGuire, who has never left her side throughout her sickness.

Also surviving are her parents, Dana and Michael Smith of Dublin and Mike and Shari DeCosta of Christiansburg,; brother, Mitch and step brother Mike, Jr. of Dublin; step-sisters, Sunni Harper of Dublin and Michelle Light of Christiansburg. Her sister by heart, Tawana Grubb of Pulaski. Grandmothers, Betty (BJ) Moye of Dublin, and Alma DeCosta of Pulaski. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her family would like to thank the Mountain Valley Hospice of Elkin, N.C. and the Highland Rehab Center staff of Dublin for the love and care shown to Michelle and her family during her illness.

We would also like to thank our God for His grace and mercy that has seen us through and continues to comfort us all until we are together again.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m., August 9, 2013 at the Community Christian Church of Newbern with Pastor Jeff Curtis officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, 3:00 p.m., August 10, 2013 at Newbern Cemetery.
