Obituary

Everett Thomas Shockley, age 91 of Pulaski,Virginia and formerly of Salisbury, Maryland died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at home after a long illness.
Born February 25, 1916 in Pittsville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Elijah Thomas Shockley & Alice Parker Shockley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons; Everett Richard Shockley & Robert Wimbrow Shockley, and six brothers and sisters.

A resident of Salisbury, Maryland until 1996, he was involved in the canning industry most of his life, first as a canner and then as a sales representative for the National Can Company and later Continental Can Company, from which he retired after 22 years. Because of his warmth, professionalism and immaculate attire, he was referred to by many as, "Mr. Continental." He was also known for his keen sense of humor and at any gathering he was the life of the party. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family wishes to extend sincere and heartfelt thanks to his three caregivers; Kay Doyle, Lois Hubbard and Juanita Turman, for the care and devotion that they have provided for more than a year, which made it possible for him to be comfortable and remain at home until his death, and to Preferred Hospice of Pulaski.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski.

Funeral services will be held Sunday 2:00 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home, Salisbury, Maryland with Robert W. Shockley, Jr. officiating. Friends are being invited to visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 PM. at Bounds Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held Monday 11:00 A.M. at Parsons Cemetery, Salisbury,
MD.
