Frances Ferguson Morehead, age 90, beloved wife of the late Frederick Morehead, Sr., died on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Pulaski, VA, a daughter of the late Samuel Ferguson and Ethel Triphena Sutphin Ferguson. She retired from Southern York County Middle School, where she worked as a cafeteria cook. She was an avid golfer (with a hole in one at the age of 78), and was Senior Ladies Club Champion at the Bon Air Country Club in Glen Rock, PA. She loved cooking, bird watching at Swan Lake and spending precious time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are: a son, Fred Morehead, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Sumter; a daughter, Joan Port and her husband Gary of Longs, SC; two grandchildren, Matthew Morehead and Meghann Buckles; and one great grandchild, Thomas Morehead.

She was preceded in death by: two sisters, Thelma Runyon and Violet Ferguson; and two brothers, Otto Ferguson and James Ferguson.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00am at Thornspring Church Cemetery, 5670 Thornspring Church Road, Pulaski, VA.

The family will receive friends locally at Bullock Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 6-8pm and later on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 5-7pm at Bowers Funeral Chapels in Pulaski, VA.
