Hobert Charlie Akers, age 80 of Barren Springs, Virginia passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston Salem, N.C.

Born February 7, 1931 in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Hobert Asa Akers and Roberta Gay Ratcliffe Akers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He was the owner of Akers Cabinet Shop in Pulaski. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Akers was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church in Fairlawn.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m., November 26, 2011 in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with
Rev. Darlene Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin with military honors conducted at the graveside by the Pulaski V.F.W .Post #1184.
