Hortense Overstreet Southern, age 91 of Hiwassee passed away Thursday evening March 1, 2012 at her home.

Born February 28, 1921 in Longdale, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Emmett Edgar Overstreet, Sr. & Mayme Mays Overstreet. Her husband; Early C. Southern, Sr., brothers; Emmett Edgar Overstreet, Jr., Gordon Overstreet, sisters; Virginia Campbell and Marie Metz also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her

Daughters & Sons-in-law-
Doris S. & Ranza Horton – Austinville, VA.,
Judy S. & Cecil Horton – Austinville, VA.

Son & Daughter-in-law-
Early C. Southern, Jr. & wife, Sandra – Pulaski, VA.

6 Grandchildren ,18 Great Grandchildren,& 6 Great, Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday at the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church (Hiwassee) with Elder Ronald Bowman and Russell Payne officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the church.
