James Edgar Spence, age 86 of Fayetteville, North Carolina passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Born November 8, 1925 in Conway, North Carolina he was the son of the late Edgar Baron Spence and Maggie Cadelia Burgess Spence. His loving wife, Evelyn McBee Surles Spence, A step-daughter , Robin Whitehead and husband, Ronald Whitehead, Sr. a step-son; Winton Wilgus also preceded him in death.

He was a retired Sheriff's Deputy with the Norfolk, Virginia Sheriff's Department and he was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
