James Winfred Smith, age 84 of Pulaski passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the Lewis-Gale Hospital, Pulaski. Born March 28, 1942 in Pulaski, Virginia he was the son of the late Charles & Mary P. Rakes Smith.

He was also preceded in death by his brother Charles M. Smith “Buddy”; sisters Joyce Lawson, Mary Lee Ramey; grandson Brandon S. Smith and nephews John Wesley Reynolds, Jr., Richard Wayne Smith. 

 He was a member of the New Hope Church in Pulaski

Daughter – Debra Ann Smith

Grandchildren – Justin Stump, Jason (Brittany) Stump, Dakota Smith, Dax Smith, Sherry Hall, J.R. Stump

Great Grandchildren – Alexis Stump, Blaise Stump, Jaren Stump, Zaden Stump, Brason Stump

Sisters – Janet Munley, Linda Coltrane

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM – Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Bower Funeral Home-Chapel, Pulaski with Bishop Randall Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Christian Church Cemetery, Draper.
