In the early morning of September 28, 2026, the sweet and gentle soul of Jimmy Clifton Jones of Dublin was released from the bonds of his earthly home to be welcomed into his heavenly home and the loving arms of Jesus.

Jimmy was born to James Clifton Jones and Sylvia Sutphin Jones on October 13, 1934 in Pulaski, VA. He was the big brother to sisters, Joretta and Janice, who both predeceased him.

He was known as a man with a servant’s heart. He served his Lord faithfully through his church, Dublin Baptist, serving on numerous committees and working on countless projects for nearly half a century. He especially loved working with the Hearts and Hammers group on projects that benefited less fortunate members of the community.

Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserve, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He worked at Radford Army Ammunition Plant, retiring after 33 years of service.

He was a faithful and loving husband to his wife and soul mate of 49 years, Brenda Ward Jones of Dublin. He was also a devoted father to five precious children: Joni Quesenberry (deceased); Robin Jones Davidson of Draper, VA; Judy Jones Harmon of Cincinnati, OH; Howard Clifton Jones of Gatlinburg, TN; and his youngest son, Justin Ward Jones and his wife, Stephanie Lynn Jones, of Concord, NC. He will be greatly missed by his “favorite” grandson, Jackson William Jones of Concord, NC. who lovingly called him Poppy.

In addition to his family, Jimmy leaves behind many friends who will cherish their memories of him. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jackie and Wanda Ward of Dublin; brother-in-law Elray Hanks of Harrisonburg, VA; six granddaughters, three nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will be held at Bower Funeral Home in Pulaski on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm. On Friday, October 2, there will be a brief memorial service at the funeral home at 10am, and he will be laid to rest at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin immediately following the service.
