John Douglas Smith, age 67 of Sylva, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at his home. Born March 4, 1941 in Raleigh County, West Virginia he was the son of Evelyn Jean Hailston and the late Oliver Smith. His wife; Mavis Lea O'Bryan Smith and brother; Ray Smith also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. J.P. Hale officiating.

Interment will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday morning.
