Randal Mason Nester , 85, of Dublin, passed away Friday, January 23, 2026. He was born July 26, 1940, in Dublin and was the son of the late Alvin Washington Nester and Alpha Clara McDaniel Nester Blevins. Randal loved music and loved playing it. He filled rooms with song and laughter, and folks always felt welcome when he was around. He never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone, especially when help was needed. Kindhearted with just a bit of a rapscallion streak, Randal liked to have fun and keep people smiling. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly, and they were the pride and joy of his life.
Randal proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in 2001 after more than 37 years of service. Randal also shared a lifelong bond with his dear friend and Army buddy, Ernie Bradmon. He was preceded in death by his dear friend and Army buddy, Charles "Pete" Page. The three served together from basic training until they were honorably discharged from the Army and remained close friends ever since. In addition to his parents, Randal was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard E. Nester.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Joyce Kress Nester of Dublin; his children, Ken Randal Nester of Elliston, Charles Bradford (Amie) Nester of King George, Virginia, and Veronica (Tom Schulte) Nester of Burlington, Kentucky; and his grandchildren, Jessica, Collin, Kerry, Kathryn, and William Nester, all of King George, Virginia. He is also survived by his brother Joseph E. (Patricia) Nester of Snowville. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
